I believe that the many leadership, teamwork, communication and community skills I have gained through NHS and FBLA, will allow me to excel in the Public Health Field. Which will, in turn, allow me to be the best I can be, enabling me to be a great positive force in my community. Examples of public health struggles include teaching the community about better choices, avoiding disease epidemics and the spread of communicable diseases, safeguarding safe nutrition and water in populations, preparing for disaster, avoiding injury, and much more. Representatives have policy choices at their disposal that can encourage healthy activities and change circumstances whether social, financial, and ecological to increase the health of the entire inhabitants. In public health, as in many fields there are a set of conundrums that practitioners, leaders and law makers have to address in order to provide the most appropriate service to their populations.


One of these conundrums is the battle between what is good for the community vs. what is good for the individual. This topic will be broken up to the community vs. the individual, and discussed based on research done by Kass et al, and Oriola, and will be concluded by presenting possible solutions. Many questions regarding good health, preventive medicine, and the way people practiced precautionary measures to maintain a fit and sustainable life on a daily basis have always crossed my mind since my days in high school. What if people were able to take serious measures to fight the many diseases and illnesses that tend to ravage our communities?


What if there was a better way to show and teach people about the importance of practicing preventive medicine? The extent of time I spent doing my undergraduate studies in the biology department often had me think about the preventative methods of diseases and illnesses on a local and global basis, as well as some diseases in particular. My first inclination with biology and why I decided to. The following assignment will analyse and reflect on a communication situation which I observed during my practice. To be able to reflect upon this situation I will use Gibbs reflective model that will allow me to analyse the communication process between health visitor and client.
